MUDDY PAWS WELCOME

Dogs play such a central role in our lives, they deserve to be immortalised as much as any family member.

DOG PHOTOGRAPHY

If there’s anything purer or more worthwhile in this lifetime than the love of one’s dog, then I haven’t found it.

These animals are with us for such a comparatively short time, but they have the power to change us, to heal us, to fill our lives with love and purpose. In my world, they’re essential.

The line between pet and working dog is often blurred in my experience but in the most wonderful way. The most hardened, no-nonsense farmer who prizes his Springer’s precise recall abilities and razor-sharp gun dog training is the same dog owner who permits that beloved Springer to sleep at the end of the bed when no one’s looking. When it comes to dogs – working or otherwise – there’s very little we won’t do for them.

I know exactly what to look for when working with your dog. Images that stand out, that beautifully showcase your dog’s personality and character traits. They’ve all got a certain something that makes them special and I can’t wait to see what makes your dog so unique.

I love working breeds but my affection for dogs isn’t limited to labradors and spaniels: I love all dogs. Big, small, pedigree or a bit of a mongrel, all are welcome. I love photographing them and I love meeting unusual breeds that I’ve never encountered before. Bring me your Dixie Jacks and your Labradoodles, I can’t wait to meet them.

HOW IT WORKS

Pre Shoot

We’ll have a telephone consultation just to get to know one another, then I’ll send out info sheets that have everything you need to know ahead of the shoot.

On the day

We’ll meet early in the day (the light tends to be better) and have a little recce of the area (just in case you’re not shooting with us on the farm). Then we’ll have a chat about wardrobe.

After the Session

Two weeks later, your photos will be ready and I’ll invite you for a viewing session in my studio to choose your artwork.

FAQ

So what if it rains?

Scottish weather. There’s no predicting it, so I tend not to try. But all will be well: if we get light rain or the odd shower, I say we push on and get out there. A little rain never hurt anyone. A lot of rain, however, is a different story. If the weather's looking horrible we can always reschedule. No stress.

How much is a session?

It depends on how locations and the type of shoots.

Prices start from £95

Products start from £45

When will my photos be ready?

About 2 weeks after the session. In busy periods, you might have to give me a little longer but always be transparent about my lead times.

How do we view our photographs?

You’re welcome in my lovely home studio for a cuppa and a viewing session. Of course, post-Covid, lots of clients prefer a Zoom viewing session which can be arranged easily.

Are you insured?

Oh yes. I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

My dog isn’t great off-lead. Can we do a shoot with him on the lead and will the photos still look good?

I hear this one a lot and please don’t worry. We can shoot with your dog on his or her lead, then I can edit out the lead in Photoshop. Easy.

My dog can be a bit nervous…

Not a problem. I’m great with nervous animals and will always work to their comfort level. If they’re unhappy in the studio, we can always move outside or vice versa. It’s all about them (and you).

Love the sound of all this. When should I book?

At least six weeks in advance. If you’d like a weekend shoot or one that falls during the school holidays, I do recommend booking 8 weeks in advance as these slots book up super quick.
